As 20-something-year-old young professionals, many of us Millennials are constantly finding ourselves in a transitional phase of our lives. Graduation from undergrad or grad school. Transitioning to a new job. Starting a family. Moving to a new city. Shopping at Whole Foods for the first time. Whatever your transition may be, you aren't alone if you feel a bit uprooted and maybe even a little lost.
This week's guest, Ashley Basile Oeken, knows that feeling well. That's exactly what she went through when she first moved to Cleveland after grad school. She then did what any sensible young professional would do. She got a job, stuck it out and found her place in the crazy new city she called home. That is until she decided she didn't want any more young professionals in Cleveland feeling lost when they arrived in the city, and took matters into her own hands.
Ashley became the first staff member and is now the President of the young professional organization Engage! Cleveland. In this episode, we discuss an assortment of topics regarding millennials making transitions in their lives. We dig into networking, the importance of making "adult" friends, a changing workplace culture and the ominous career clout around "job-hopping".
