This week's guest is out of this world... literally.  She's been to space!

Today we're talking about leadership, the future, and overcoming obstacles with Dr. Janet Kavandi, the Director of NASA's John H. Glenn Research Center.  Prior to her role at the Glenn Research Center, Dr. Kavandi was the Director of Flight Crew Operations at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.  She was selected as a NASA astronaut in December 1994 as a member of the fifteenth class of U.S. astronauts.  She is a veteran of three space flights where she logged more than 33 days in space, traveling more than 13.1 million miles in 535 Earth orbits.

HOLY SMOKES!!!

I had an absolute blast nerding out over space travel and the future of our planet, and I hope you do too.

To learn more about NASA and the amazing research Dr. Kavandi's team is conducting, head over to nasa.gov.

Mike Belsito is a lot of things.  He is the co-founder of Product Collective, co-organizer of a conference called Industry, founder of eFuneral, author of Startup Seed Funding for the Rest of Us: How to Raise $1 Million For Your Startup - Even Outside of Silicon Valley, and co-host of the podcast Rocketship.fm.

This episode is not my standard Q&A format. After a friendly introduction from a mutual connection, I asked Mike to grab a coffee.  Being a podcaster himself, and comfortable in front of a mic, I asked if he would mind if I throw my recorder on the table.  This episode is the resulting coffee date.

From the NFL's Green Bay Packers, I'm joined today by linebacker and special teams extraordinaire, Jayrone Elliot.

Back in 2014 when Jayrone entered the NFL draft, things did not go the way he had expected... at all.  When all was said and done, his name was never called.  He went undrafted.  But that minor setback didn't stop this determined and hardworking young player.  In his own words, "Don't let anyone write your story.  You're the author of your own book."

Jayrone not only battled for a spot, but even led the NFL in sacks that pre-season.  His story is pretty remarkable, but even more impressive is his mindset and focus.
